Morata looked set for a Stamford Bridge exit after a disappointing 2017/18 season
Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta has claimed the club has not received any official offers for Gonzalo Higuain.
Higuain, who is valued at £54million by Juve, has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea as Maurizio Sarri looks to find a frontman to replace the out-of-favour Alvaro Morata.
Morata moved to the London side from Real Madrid last summer for £58million, but has struggled to adapt to the Premier League.
It is believed the Spaniard wants a return to Serie A after a successful two seasons at Juventus between 2014-16.
However, due to the recent arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juve, the Serie A giants are reportedly not going to pursue the Spaniard.
AC Milan are interested but are struggling to afford the £58m fee Chelsea want, plus his wages.
The same goes for Higuain, who is available from Juventus and is understood to prefer a switch to the San Siro rather than Stamford Bridge.
Higuain, 30, is a player Sarri would like to bring in but the Blues’ hierarchy appear reluctant to fork out the money for an ageing forward.
On Higuain’s future, Marotta said: “Milan or Chelsea? No official offers have arrived. I feel that the arrival of Ronaldo has created an attack of good quality but also of quantity.
“We will evaluate Higuain’s future with those affected. He’s an important player for us but we’re talking to him and trying to decide what’s the best solution for everyone.”
On the possibility of signing either Higuain or Morata, AC Milan’s new general manager Leonardo said: “Higuain or Morata? I don’t think it will be possible to make big signings in this transfer window.
“Huge wages are going to affect us, so it will be more difficult to get these big names.”
