The 22-year-old lost his place after the arrivals of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez
Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United this summer.
The France international’s agent has confirmed that his client is keen to move on having grown frustrated with a lack of playing time at Old Trafford.
After becoming the most expensive teenager in footballing history back in 2015 when he joined United for £36million, Martial has slowly but surely lost his place under Jose Mourinho.
The signings of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the last 12 months have seen the starlet lose patience and his place at a World Cup.
And now, according to his agent Phillippe Lamboley, the 22-year-old wants out of Manchester.
Speaking to RMC Sport, he said: “After thinking about all the possibilities and settings, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.
“There are many parameters, for now it’s premature to talk about it [the reasons for his decision]. Anthony will speak later to discuss all of this.”
When asked if Martial’s decision to leave was based on anything other than footballing reasons, Lamboley admitted his client was reluctant to leave the club, but had to for the sake of his career.
He continued: “‘United wants to extend Anthony [contract] and do not want him to leave but we do not find agreement for several months.
“I think that when Manchester United, which is the most powerful club in the world, it must be remembered, does not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is that it does not really want to make it an important player.
“That’s why this decision comes in. It is a well-considered decision.
“However, it is quite obvious and it is very important to remember that he is under contract, that Manchester United will have the last word and that we will respect the decision of the club, it will go to the end of its commitment.
“However we do not have the same vision on Anthony’s future. Today, Anthony is disappointed because he has shown for three seasons the love he had for the club and his supporters.”
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on keeping the France forward in the Premier League, while Borussia Dortmund have also been mentioned.
Last season, the 22-year-old scored 12 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions for United – registering eight assists as well.
