Unai Emery has identified a midfield target
Arsenal are reportedly close to finalising a £22million deal for Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira.
The midfielder has a €25m (£22m) release clause which Unai Emery is said to be close to activating.
A path has seemingly been cleared for the 22-year-old’s exit after Sampdoria reached a deal to sign Lokomotiv Zagreb’s Lovro Majer as his replacement.
Arsenal are trying to get their business done early, prior to the 2018 World Cup if possible.
However Torreira is in Uruguay’s squad for the tournament, and could be tied up for the next six weeks if his country progess to the latter stages.
