In a brief note on their website, Arsenal confirmed Kolasinac has: “Sustained an injury to his left knee.”

They added that he: “Will be out for eight to ten weeks.”

This news comes as a blow to new manager Unai Emery, who will have been hoping for a full strength side ahead of next week’s Premier League opener against champions Manchester City.

However, he must now do without Sead Kolasinac until October at the earliest.

The Gunners also updated on Aaron Ramsey’s situation, as he missed the Chelsea match with a calf strain.

He will continue to be assessed and is aiming to return to training next week.
