Born June in Jones Town St. Andrew Jamaica 1966 the very community from where the legendary “Bob Marley” launched his world renowned career that has earned him and reggae music the respectability and prestigious fame on the global stage, it must be more than mere coincidence he is a talent of potency as upon close scrutiny of his music, it is easy to acknowledge this is another great musical personality in wait.

Alpha Rowen appeared on the music scene in 1992, recording the first song he wrote, “Tell Me Teacher” released on the Inity Lion Label. This got him needed attention which saw him recording for Sonic Sounds and other producers until him and his brother, Durrant Rowe, teamed musically which gave birth to the, “Ancient Mystic Music Label” in 1994.

It was the year 1998 that he earned national recognition with his first music video for the song; “Africa’s Calling”, under his then stage name (Rolex) this was an Ancient Mystic production that enjoyed regular rotations on the only local television station then, J.B.C. T.V from 1998 to 1999. This led to him being invited to travel to the United Kingdom in 2000, where after scoring a massive hit with “ Shot A Bark” on the Peter Tosh’s “ Legalise It rhythm, he was signed to Jet Star on a three years deal. This was when he made the change from the stage-name “Rolex” to Alpha Rowen which saw the year 2001 international release of his first album, “The Teacher” leading to his 2002 European tour that took him to places such as France, Belgium, Germany to Denmark, back to Germany then to where the tour ended in England.

Alpha Rowen returned to Jamaica to re-launched his career under his present stage name in 2002 constantly knocking at the main promotional avenues door, as his local fan base had somewhat lost track of his whereabouts because of the name change. He through Ancient Mystic Music launched a massive local promotional campaign with songs such as “What Can I Do Lord” which peaked at# 2 on the Suzie Q hosted chart Reggae Trail in 2001and # 12 on the then R.J.R top 40 chart then the hard hitting song “Murder” along with its music video, then came another album “Hail King Selasie I” in 2005 for U.K based label “Penitentiary Records” when he again grabbed local attention with the song No Chacka Chaka, on an original Ska rhythm which subsequently reignited a return of the ska beat to prime-time Jamaican radio in 2006, then in the summer of 2009, Ancient Mystic Music re-energized the promotion of the eight year old song “What Can I Do Lord” that shot to prominence and entered three local charts, Hitz 92 fm top twenty, peaking at # 5, Re. T.V top thirty, peaked at # 3, Fiwi Choice top twenty chart, sitting firm in the top five slot for over fifteen weeks, peaking at # 2 for the last three weeks on the chart and number one for nine consecutive weeks on the Caribbean cable network chart ‘Tempo’.

Alpha Rowen made appearance locally, sharing stage with Jamaica’s most prominent names in the entertainment industry, on shows such as, Follow Di Arrow, Reggae Jam Jam, 2005 Emancipation Celebration, Teen Splash, Reggae Kings In Action led by the legendary Bunny Wailer, Cambridge Independence Fest, Sting 93, 95, 99, 2005 and 2009 plus many other local events around the island.

Alpha Rowen has stepped up his musical game to higher heights, adding potency, power and spice to his magnificent craft, this additive is in the way of “DI’ LIVING SOUNDZ” his band of musical soldiers and if the world has any doubt, put Alpha Rowen and DI’ Living Soundz Band to the test.
