The Togo centre-back has caught the eye in LaLiga having joined Getafe from Sint-Truidense last summer
Leicester are preparing an offer for Getafe defender Djene Dakonam, according to reports.
Djene, the Togo centre-back, impressed in his debut LaLiga season last term, following his move to Spain from Sint-Truidense in Belgium this time last year. He made 36 appearances in total, helping Getafe finish eighth by conceding just 33 goals throughout the entire campaign.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery is said to have kept track of the 26-year-old in previous years, while Sevilla are known to be admirers of Djene, who can play on the right side of defence as well as in his natural centre-back position.
However, Leicester are making the most serious move for Djene, with a £25million (€28m) offer being prepared by Claude Puel and co, according to AS.
Getafe president Angel Torres wants to receive Djene’s full release clause – reportedly £31m (€35m) – to sell the defender, while the player is said to favour a move to Sevilla as he wishes to remain in LaLiga rather than move abroad.
The Foxes have already made three senior signings this summer, with Puel bringing defenders Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira, and James Maddison, the midfielder, to the King Power Stadium.
