Hillary Clinton’s trip to India started off on the wrong foot Monday when she slipped twice while descending the stairs of a historic palace, video footage shows.
The former presidential nominee, who is visiting the country to promote her book, kicked off her sandals after the second slip at Jahaj Maha palace in Mandu, according to footage posted by the Daily Mail. She stepped down the rest the stone stairs with former top aide Huma Abedin trailing behind her.
Clinton, 70, later gave a speech to promote her book, “What Happened,” which centers on her loss in the 2016 presidential election.
The klutzy move came five months after Clinton broke her toe in London, where she was also promoting her book.
“I was running down the stairs in heels with a cup of coffee in hand, I was talking over my shoulder and my heel caught and I fell backwards,” she said on Britain’s Graham Norton Show in October 2017, where she appeared wearing a surgical boot.
“I tried to get up and it really hurt. I’ve broken my toe.”
Clinton arrived in India Monday for the three-day private trip, according to the Washington Post.
She has laughed off past blunders as simple clumsiness.
