Fabinho and Keita have been brought into bolster Liverpool’s midfield ahead of the 2018/19 season
Jurgen Klopp looks set to give new signings Naby Keita and Fabinho their Liverpool debuts this weekend.
Liverpool travel to Chester on Saturday for their first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Liverpool’s pre-season schedule in full
Keita and Fabinho both started their pre-season training with their new clubs on Monday and the German appears keen to give them a run out on the pitch, most likely for 45 minutes.
When asked if the travelling Kopites will be getting a glimpse of their new signings on Saturday, Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “Yes, hopefully.
“We still have two or three sessions until we play; unfortunately in football a lot of things can happen. But if nothing happens then they will play of course.
“We don’t want to waste time. They are in, it’s good. It’s our first pre-season game so let’s start.
“If they’ll start, I don’t know, to be honest. I haven’t made the line-up so far, I have to see who is available. But, yes, they will be involved for sure.”
The Reds have been fairly productive in the transfer market this summer but were dealt a huge blow when the deal to sign Nabil Fekir collapsed just before the beginning of the World Cup.
