The inevitable was finally confirmed as Liverpool announced that Emre Can would be leaving the club this summer. 

The midfielder, who was linked with a move away from Anfield for the duration of the 2017/18 campaign, will see out the remaining weeks of his contract before trying to find a new club. 

It was also announced at the same time that local lad Jon Flanagan will leave the club he has been at since he was a boy. 

The writing has been on the wall with regards to Can’s departure and Liverpool fans have had the time to process the information. 

And the news caused many Kopites across Twitter to have their say. 

It was somewhat of a mixed response with some fans suggesting the German was making an unwise decision by moving away from a club that appears to be building itself towards something potentially very special.

However, others were in more of a philosophical mood – thanking Can for his efforts since he signed in July 2014 – and wishing him all the best for the future.
