Liverpool could make a swoop for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot in January.

Rabiot, 23, has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 champions and according to reports, Jurgen Klopp is an admirer.

However, the Reds will have to wait until January if they are to pursue Rabiot as the transfer window for Premier League clubs has closed.

This could be a problem for Liverpool as Barcelona – who have until the end of the month to finalise any new arrivals for the coming season – are also interested in the Frenchman.

On the Rabiot rumour, PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel said: “It’s not certain if Adrien stays at PSG. It all depends on him.

“For me he’s a great player. He can grow even more and become a top player.”

Rabiot caused controversy by ruling himself out of France’s World Cup campaign after only being named on the standby list of Didier Deschamps’ squad. France went on to win the tournament in Russia.

L’Equipe has reported that Liverpool will try to land Rabiot on a pre-contract agreement in January, with the view to him joining next summer.

He currently has one year left on his current deal with the French club.
