The young German was guilty of another blunder in the Reds net against Borussia Dortmund in a pre-season friendly
Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has leapt to the defence of goalkeeper Loris Karius, who has hinted he is considering his future at Anfield.
The young German – who suffered a nightmare performance in the Champions League final and has now lost his No.1 shirt to new signing Alisson – faced more criticism on Monday after making another blunder in a friendly against Borussia Dortmund.
Having already made a mistake in a pre-season clash at League Two side Tranmere, Karius’ was left red-faced again when he parried a Christian Pulisic shot directly into the path Jacob Bruun Larsen, who slotted home easily for the Bundesliga side.
American starlet Pulisic, 19, had earlier scored twice as Dortmund came back from Virgil van Dijk’s opening goal to win 3-1 in Charlotte.
Karius responded to his critics on social media shortly after the game, while he also received the backing of Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who told angry fans: “Leave the kid alone! He’s also a person, as we all are.”
And now Liverpool’s Egyptian King Salah has thrown his support behind his under-fire team-mate, telling the 25-year-old to “ignore” the haters.
Karius also spraked speculation over his Liverpool future following the game when he spoke to the German press.
The 25-year-old is now the Reds’ number two following the £67million arrival of Brazil international Alisson from Roma.
Asked about his position at Anfield, Karius told Sky Germany: “Of course that’s not perfect for me, but I cannot say much more about that either.
“I do not know that [whether he will leave before the deadline].
“I cannot say what I’m doing right now, there’s still some time left.”
