Karius’ future hung in the balance following a disastrous performance in the Champions League final
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly ready to end his pursuit of a new goalkeeper and thus give Loris Karius another chance at the no.1 spot.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker all summer.
However, as the Brazilian has also attracted the interest of the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool have been priced out of a move.
They have been linked with Stoke keeper Jack Butland, however, it’s not clear where the England international’s destination will be after the Potters were relegated from the Premier League last season.
It means Karius will now be at the club for pre-season just a couple of months after his disastrous Champions League final where he gifted Real Madrid two goals in the 3-1 defeat.
Back-up keeper Simon Mignolet hinted at a possible departure from Liverpool, but the inability to sign Alisson could reignite the Belgian’s chances of staying at Anfield.
Liverpool have been linked with Barcelona’s second choice glovesman Jasper Cillessen, who is reportedly available for a reduced price than initially thought.
