A man was fatally shot in a possible case of road rage in Atlanta early Thursday – and investigators are reportedly looking into whether the incident is connected to two other random shootings.
The shooting occurred at the entrance of the Brighton Village apartment complex in east Atlanta, where a unidentified man’s body was found inside a car. At least three shots were fired, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
A spokesman from the DeKalb County Police Department told WSB-TV that the victim’s wife and two children were also inside the car during the shooting at about 4 a.m. Thursday. They were not injured, according to the station.
Lt. Mark Lavigne said police were interviewing witnesses and investigating whether the incident was related to two other shooting that left two drivers in southwest Atlanta injured earlier Thursday.
“We will definitely be looking at that,” Lavigne told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Calls seeking additional comment from police were not immediately returned Thursday. Earlier in the day, police believe an unknown suspect randomly selected targets in separate shootings. Police said the victims did not know each other, but both reported seeing a silver SUV at the scenes on Interstate 20 and a few miles away, respectively.
Police said both victims were hospitalized, but their exact conditions weren’t clear.
