A rumoured four-way race for the Serbia international is now reportedly down to one…
Manchester United are reportedly set to withdraw their interest in Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – because he is considered too expensive.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the most in-demand players of the summer transfer market following his sparkling form in Italy.
Serbia international Milinkovic-Savic scored 12 goals in 35 Serie A outings from central midfield last term and now Europe’s biggest clubs are circling.
He also impressed at the World Cup in his nation’s 1-0 victory over Costa Rica, which prompted United fans to urge their club to bring the up-and-coming star to Old Trafford.
United have been heavily linked with the Spain-born Serbian while Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the hunt.
But now Sky Sport Italia has claimed that the four-horse race is now down to one – with Madrid the only club ready to pay anywhere near his £131million asking price.
It has been reported that United, Juve and PSG believe that figure is way above his market value which could give Madrid a clear run at signing him this summer.
The midfielder remains under contract until 2022 and is set to bank Lazio a vast profit on the £16.2m they paid Genk for him in 2015.
