The 22-year-old was left out of Joachim Low’s squad for the tournament in Russia
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has urged Leroy Sane to use his World Cup snub to make him stronger.
The Germany winger was sensationally left out of Joachim Low’s World Cup squad despite playing a vital role in City’s Premier League title win.
After winning the PFA Young Player of the Year Award, Sane seemed set to star in Russia for his country.
However, his club boss does not want the rejection to get him down, instead challenging him to come back a better player.
“Leroy has to accept that this decision may make him stronger,” he said.
“He has the chance to show the national team from Germany and first of all us, he has another season to show his quality.
“He’s so young and in two years it is another European Championships and then in four years another World Cup.
“I think it’s the past now. The national trainer decided what’s the best for the national team.”
The 22-year-old scored 10 goals and recorded 15 assists as the Citizens romped to the Premier League title last time campaign.
