Suspected robber’s dumb Snapchat video lands him in jail

A Texas man was arrested for a pair of robberies after a video surfaced on Snapchat of him firing a gun out the window of a moving car, authorities said.

Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Mason Kirby Gray — dubbed the “Snapchat shooter” — late Tuesday on Twitter. Gray, 20, was featured on the department’s YouTube page last month in a Snapchat video apparently showing him randomly shooting a handgun from a moving car while laughing and smiling.

Gray, who was arrested in Katy, was also sought in connection to two aggravated robberies in west Harris County. Investigators received a tip after they posted the Snapchat clip that identified Gray as the suspect who robbed two Valero gas stations at gunpoint on March 1.

A judge set Gray’s bond at $120,000 — $60,000 for each aggravated robbery charge — during his initial court appearance early Wednesday, KTRK reports.
