The French midfielder is said to be the subject of interest from Marco Silva, who managed him at Vicarage Road last season

Everton remain interested in Watford star Abdoulaye Doucoure, despite having a £20m bid for the midfielder rejected earlier this month.

Doucoure was one of the Hornets’ most important players last season, finishing as the Hertfordshire club’s top scorer with seven league goals. Six of those strikes were netted when Marco Silva was manager at Vicarage Road, and the Portugese wants to reunite with the Frenchman now that he has been confirmed as Everton manager.

Silva was appointed boss of the Goodison Park club earlier this summer, succeeding Sam Allardyce, and he’s already made a swoop for one of his former players, with Richarlison, the forward, set to join Everton in a deal reported to be worth up to £50million.

However, Doucoure is also on Silva’s radar, and it is believed Everton made a £20million bid for the 25-year-old earlier this month.

That approach was quickly knocked back by Watford, but, according to RMC Sport, the Toffees retain an interest in Doucoure heading into the final few weeks of the transfer window.

There are no indications as to whether the Merseysiders plan to make another offer for Doucoure, but it is clear Watford do not want to lose their 2017/18 Player of the Season, especially as Silva has already poached Richarlison away from Hertfordshire.
