President Trump threw some fuel on the fire of controversy over the former aide who resigned last week over domestic abuse charges.
“Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation,” Trump complained in a Saturday morning tweet.
“Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused – life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?” he asked.
White House staff secretary Rob Porter resigned under pressure Wednesday as allegations of physical and emotional abuse from his two ex-wives emerged – charges that senior White House officials admitted having known for months.
Trump praised Porter in his initial statements on the scandal, saying that he “did a very good job when he was in the White House” – drawing the ire of critics who charged him with going easy on abusers.
