On September 5th 2019, Yung Pacino, Ali Terrazas, Levi Berlanga, Louis Sanchez, and many others came together for the West Texas Strong Benefit Show held at The Club in Odessa. The show benefited the families of the victims from the mass shooting that affected both Midland and Odessa, TX August 31, 2019.
Mary Granados 29, Leilah Hernandez 15, Edwin Peregrino 25, Joe Griffith 40, Rodolfo Julio Arco 57, Kameron Karltess Brown 30, and Raul Garcia 35 all lost their lives, while 22 others were injured on that tragic day.
Being an Odessa native, it was extremely heartbreaking to see my city in distress. The panic was on everyone’s faces in the streets, social media posts, and newscasts during the nearly two hour high speed chase. IT WAS TOTAL CHAOS!
The Hip Hop Community of both Midland and Odessa came together to make the benefit show possible. The night was filled with many talented artists! Highway Yella, the newest member of Swisha House, made an appearance, who also introduced my son Davian with his debut performance. Beatz Real, Mini Mack, Loets, Brotha Jake, Lo Poet, DJ Spree, Half Breed, Henry Z, Nic D, Mic Murda, Kuntry De la Rosa, A.T.R., and K. Fuentez also blessed the stage with DJ Ronnie Oh-Gawd on the one’s and two’s.
On behalf of myself, and all of the Soul Central Family, our thoughts and prayers are with the Families and Loved Ones that have been affected by this horrific act.
