White House sacks Mar-a-Lago shuttle drivers after one is busted with gun

The White House replaced all the drivers shuttling the press around Mar-a-Lago after one of them was detained for having a gun in his luggage during a security screening.

The driver said it was his personal weapon and he had forgotten to leave it behind before getting ready to drive the press pool Monday morning.

The driver was detained before the press connected with the motorcade that took President Trump to the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach around 9 am, according to pool report.

Before then, it was anything but a typical day at Mar-a-Lago.

An early morning security screening in a parking lot across the street from Mar-a-Lago revealed the driver assigned to the press was armed.

Since the driver was barred from entering Mar-a-Lago property, a White House staffer drove the press van instead.

Then, at Mar-a-Lago, a second press pool van grazed a Secret Service vehicle in the parking lot.

No one was hurt in the accident and the damage to the van and security vehicle appeared to be minor, according to the pool report.

Trump has been in Florida since Friday, where he and the First Lady visited with first responders and hospitalized victims from the Parkland high school shooting.
